nice read

I would put miller 10 percent not 1 percent

he is on pace for 40 points and the sabres have a big hole at RD esp if they let him walk

I'd have no problem with them bringing him back. Gotta pay someone

Good blog

I think a guy like Pysyk who can be a 6/7th, 13th forward is an interesting thought.

A 3rd or 4th at the moment.

He is showing a lot of success lately with his World Junior performance and how he has started his college career, but the 7th round selection is still fresh.

Tage at 99% and Mittelstadt at 75% feels like an opinion that will change quite a bit by the trade deadline.

Just a prediction.

I want to see if Casey ends up pushing Tage down a slot with his play. Is this current Tage and his pace sustainable? Or is it a lucky streak?

Interesting. I think a lot of it depends on internal team depth. With Knight and Bobrovsky around for a long time, perhaps he's worth less. He's making a no name hockey club get ranked. That team is basically the NCAA Sabres. Personally I think a 2nd round pick could get him from a team like the Panthers. The Sabres, if they were dealing him, I don't think they offer to trade him out at all.

nice work...this jumped out of the survivors pool:

50% chance: Rasmus Dahlin,

Dahlin could very well work his way into a Sam Reinhart situation where he has one year left of restricted free agency and the team decides to move on before they completely lose control of the situation. I’m just not sure that the Sabres are going to commit the Swedish defenseman, and it seems like the fans are starting to turn on him.

only 50%?...sad, really...although the rumors were that the sabres offered him a long-term deal and his camp went with the bridge deal

as for the fans, if you listen to them, you end up sitting with them...or something like that

Strange to suggest that Dahlin could be in a Reinhart situation and less likely to be here than VO, who is in a Reinhart situation today. I'd switch those two.

The main issue that I see is his position. A goaltender that lights it up in college isn't necessarily going to light it up in the NHL.

If he was a forward putting up over ppg numbers as a freshman he would be getting drafted super high, or the team that has his rights would be looking for a high pick if they were to move him.

not sure a team would trade him at this point...unless, it was part of a trade for a bona-fide #1 center like, i dunno, jack echl

how 'bout this:

florida is one of the favorites in the east right now and if things work out the way they planned, vegas could very well end up in the scf...

meaning both of buffalo's tank prizes could be vying for the stanley cup...i remember not so long ago when jack echl watched ror raise the cup...a few years later he found a way to get the hell out of buffalo...

surely the dahlin camp has taken notice

Point taken, but they're in the same position as it relates to the last year of RFA eligibility. Dahlin just has 2.5 years of contract left to VO's 6 months

Both of those teams are far better than stl was then.

St.Louis was the best team in the NHL from game 41 up until they were raising the cups over their heads.

They started slow, no doubt. Once they made the coaching change though and called up Binnington they were off to the races

The irony.

Tanking is bad, but the two players we tanked for are going to be huge reasons why their respective teams are cup contenders.

Weird

There's 1 huge difference, in my mind. Dahlin's value will be very well established. VO's a giant question. I'd bet there's a huge gap here on opinions of his value.

VO is a very difficult decision for them.

Tage was shooting the lights out of the place, no way he was going to maintain shooting 18%.

However, both Tage and Mitts should be 40 point guys over an 82 game season and can be an integral part of the depth of the organization.

The Sabres do lack 1 or 2 elite forwards up front though, that’s why Dell and Tokarski are here.

maybe...but there are a lot of factors that go into winning a cup such as team chemistry, coaching, goaltending and getting on a roll at the right time...yes talent plays a huge role and the blues certainly weren't as talented as the cats are now, but they had a couple of dandy players in pietrangelo and taresenko, added ror, surrounded them with top-notch role players and rode the hot goaltending of binnington

skunk won't be a huge reason that the cats win it, more like a perfect ror-type additon to a strong team...jack on the other hand has the type of skill to win the conn smythe and hoist the cup...

and, yes, tanking is bad...buffalo has lost 2 out of every 3 games since they started their "losing to win" strategy...the league is and has been laughing at the sabres for that entire time and three teams have taken advantage of their losing culture

Yup, just feels like the opposite situation this time around. Fla and veg are favorites to make deep runs. If they don't, it will be a pleasant surprise.

Ekblad (1st overall), Barkov (2nd overall), Huberdeau (3rd overall).

Then they had a management team that built around them.

Amazing how that works.
